It includes his impressions of Paul Robeson who acted in his play; 'Toussaint L'Ouverture', his arrival in England in 1932, his relationship with several persons he met; Harry and Elizabeth Spencer (to whom 'The Black Jacobins' was dedicated), Charlie Lahr and an individual he calls "Coop". Also included are his motivations for writing 'The Black Jacobins'.
