The Artists
KARIN DAWN BEST -
Born & raised in Trinidad & Tobago.
Lived in Jamaica, England & Canada before settling in the US.
Decided to pursue her desire to become an artist at age 50.
Work appears in embassies of T&T, Grenada, Barbados, the UK and Canada.
Her art depicts landscapes, flowers & the cultural lifestyle of her native homeland in both oils & watercolours.
VANITA COMISSIONG
Born in 1962 (in Barbados), began painting in the early 1990s with Newcomers Art Group.
Earned four medals (2 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze) for entries in the 1991 National Independence Festival of Creative Arts.
Participated in numerous exhibitions in Barbados and internationally--Washington, D.C. and Paris.
Opened the "On the Wall" art gallery in 2001.
EARL DARIUS ETIENNE
Born in Dominica in 1957.
Studied in the Jamaica School of Art from 1982 to 1986.
Actively involved in all aspects of Dominican culture.
Works as a Senior Cultural Officer and curator/coordinator of events; also designs & builds carnival costumes & sets.
SUSAN MAINS
Born in 1958, has dual Grenadian & American citizenship.
Grew up in Grenada.
Opened her own gallery in 2002, "Art and Soul Gallery".
