J.M. Bousquet, M.P. 41, entered into active politics in 1950, when he became a member of the St. Lucia workers' Co-operative Union. Later, he formed his own union, the United Workers Union. He became a member of the legislative council in 1953 but lost the seat in 1957. Mr. Bousquet was for many years a seaman and gained many service decorations before he retired voluntarily with the rating of Quarter-master. He is a member of the St. Lucia Labour Party.
