Scope and Contents
This collection consists mainly of minutes, papers, notes of proceedings, correspondence, submissions and other materials collected, used, and generated by the Constitution Commission during the period of its existence, 1987-1990. The papers shed light on various aspects of the political development of Trinidad and Tobago: the internal operations of the Commission itself; the concerns of the people of Trinidad and Tobago on the subject of constitutional reform; and the constitutional history of the twin-island Republic.

Biographical / Historical
The Constitution Commission was appointed in June 1987 to hold an inquiry in public, "to consider the Constitution of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and to make recommendations for the revision thereof." The Commission was chaired by Sir Isaac Hyatali.
