Abstract

The diary records the daily life of a local Dominican based in the southwest of the island between Scotts Head, Soufriere and Morne Prosper. Although the diarist is not named, it gives details on many economic processes- lime and cocoa cultivation, road, wall and boat building in the area and refers to cases of immigration from the island to Curacao. It also provides the names of many individuals with whom the diarist came into contact. The day-to- day activities of the area are mentioned to including court cases, celebrations, accidents and activities of the Catholic Church.
